Yesterday, we finished digging and have returned the excavator. With the digging done, we can now focus on reinforcing the trench walls and the rebar. It wasn’t the most exciting day, but we did make good progress.
Some key things that happened today:
Trench Walls Going Up
Today they started putting up the boards that will serve as the mold for when the cement is poured. I noted to Armin that they didn’t seem quite straight, but he assured me that their current positioning is temporary. He said he plans to adjust them later.
Rebar Prep
They drilled holes into the foundation today for the rebar work. While no rebar grids were installed yet today, a lot of progress was made crafting the grids.
Boarded Up Holes
Armin had Pedro board up the holes that were left from when they removed the 2x10s, so that vermin don’t enter the crawlspace.
Anonymous Dispute Notice
Maulik from 9417 across the street called me mid-day to tell me he received a notice from the Dept of Permitting Services regarding an anonymous complaint about him building a deck. However, he is not building a deck, or anything at all. Because of that we’re wondering if the complaint was meant to be directed at us (9416).
I decided to call the inspector. Thankfully, he immediately remembered this particular issue and quickly commented on seeing our permit posted and how the complaint didn’t make sense to him either. He then stated that because of that he went ahead and closed it out. I also asked him if I could take down the permit posted on our lawn, since the 30 days we were obligated to post it for has already transpired. He confirmed that we could go ahead and take it down.
