Today we continued work on the rebar. It seemed to be more laborious than anticipated, but we did end up getting some of it in place. There’s much more to go. Armin is hoping to get the rest in place on the next visit.
Some key things that happened today:
Installed Rebar
I think Armin was hoping to get more rebar installed than he actually did today, but the portion that he did get in was in the 8ft deep section, which seems to be the most difficult portion. He explained that the rebar inserted into the holes, that were drilled into the foundation, are just a single thicker rebar pole. Those just stick out into the void. The thinner rebar are used to create grids, and those are installed on either side of the inner walls. (see pics)
Proper Board Placement
I know Armin told me yesterday that the boards will likely get adjusted later one, but I couldn’t help grilling him a little on that. Thankfully he was nice enough to entertain my concerns and we took measurements and noted how some panels need to be moved. I’m feeling overly cautious about the foundation being poured correctly. I plan to revisit these concerns when the rebar is all in and make sure everything is properly aligned and plum.
Rain Delays
Armin won’t be coming by tomorrow, since it’s supposed to rain all day. We were also hoping to do inspection tomorrow too, but that’s definitely going to get pushed back. Things are moving much slower than anticipated, but honestly, I expected as much. It looks like it’ll also rain on Monday, so we’ll probably pick things back up on Tue.
